Event Information

At the request of Lama Tharchin Rinpoche, Lama Sonam Rinpoche and Vajrayana Foundation sangha, Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche will bestow Three Roots empowerments from His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche and Dudjom Lingpa at Pema Osel Ling. They will include Guru Rinpoche’s Seven Treasures, Tsokyey Tuk-Tik (Lake-Born Vajra), Dorje Drolo, Vajrakilaya Putri Rekphung, Vajrakilaya Namchak Putri, Khandro Tuk-Tik (Yeshe Tsogyal), Thröma Nagmo, and Tse-drup Chime Sok-Tik. 


Schedule

Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche will start at 9:30 AM on August 19th. At this point we do not have an exact time for any following sessions. Please bear in mind that the times for each empowerment may be in the morning, afternoon or evening.

Includes lodging for 2-3 nights from Monday to Wednesday (should you need to stay over Thursday night arrangements must be made in advance), all empowerments and meals (starting with breakfast on Tuesday August 19 and ending with dinner on Thursday 21)

Payment

To secure attendance you MUST register and pay in full by July 21.

There are two options for payment.

  • Credit card (and Paypal)
  • Check (made out to Vajrayana Foundation) and mailed to Vajrayana Foundation, 2013 Eureka Canyon Road, Watsonville, CA 95076. Please write “DKR event” on the envelope.

Should your check not be accepted for payment by the bank, you will be charged a 7% monthly fee on your remaining balance and billed for any bank fees.   

 

Cancellation and Refunds

  • Up till and including August 1 --- Refund minus $35 cancellation charge
  • August 2 on --- there will be no refund

Financial Assistance

Vajrayana Foundation seeks to make retreats open to everyone, regardless of financial situation. If you require financial assistance, including limited work study positions, please contact the office as early as possible to make arrangements.  

 

On-site check-in

Required upon arrival for all retreatants. At this time you will need to read and sign a Waiver Release Form.

      Retreatants can arrive on August 18. Residential retreatants will receive housing assignments and activity yoga. You can check in at the office from noon to 10:00 pm --- should you arrive later than that your housing location will be posted on the board outside the office. 

      On August 19, registration will take place at the Shrine (the location of the event) starting at 8:00 am and one hour before subsequent sessions.  

 

Parking

Parking is limited. We are encouraging everyone to car-pool whether staying on site or commuting.

If arriving on August 18 – park in front of the office for 10 minutes while you check-in and we will direct you where to park.

If arriving on August 19, you will be directed where to park and can then check-in at the Shrine if you have not already done so.

If you have a disability that renders you unable to walk to the Shrine, please meet in front of the office no later than 8:45AM and lifts to and from the Shrine will be organized.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO DRIVING to the Shrine. Parking permits will be issued to those giving lifts to others pr for special circumstances. 


Accommodations

Indoor dormitory-style accommodation is on a first come, first served basis. There will be 3-4 people per room or cabin. You are also welcome to camp with your own tents. If you need privacy, please consider camping. We have a limited number of tents available (for a $25 fee) that must be reserved ahead of time.

 

What to bring

  • Towels and bedding (not provided). If you are in indoor accommodation it is mandatory that you bring and use a bottom sheet.
  • Flashlight
  • Any medication or toiletries you will need (some toiletries are available in our bookstore)
  • Ear-plugs if you are disturbed by snoring
  • Warm- and cool-weather comfortable clothing (layers work best)
  • Sensible shoes in view of uneven terrain
  • Cushion for the Shrine. Chairs are available.
 

Food

We serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes at meals. Because of the scale of this event we apologize for not being able to accommodate any individual dietary restrictions or requirements.

 

Work Assignments

We ask that everyone staying on the land contributes an hour of work a day towards the smooth running of this event. Assignments will be given upon arrival. If you are physically unable to participate in this, please let us know in advance.  

Children

Parents are asked to take full responsibility for their children’s welfare when on the land. Children are welcome in the Shrine room as long as parents ensure that disturbance to others is kept to a minimum.

 

Miscellaneous

  • Smoking, alcohol and recreational drugs are not permitted on the land at any time. 
  • Candles, fires, and incense are not permitted on the land except under the clear direction of Pema Osel Ling staff. 
  • Phone and Computer use --- there is minimal cell-phone reception at and around Pema Osel Ling. Our telephone number (831) 761-6266 can be given to relatives ONLY as an emergency contact. We will take no other messages. There is a working pay phone in the Information Booth. You can check email at the Information Booth or on the benches outside the office if your computer has a wireless card. Office computers are absolutely not available for private use.
  • Pets are not permitted at Pema Osel Ling.
 

Dharma Treasures gift shop

The store stocks practice items, sadhanas, photos, books, gifts, cards, CDs, thangkas and other art work, a selection of clothing including chubas, snacks, basic toiletries and items such as flashlights. Cash, checks and credit cards accepted.
