Then, number third, camp renting…camp renting, membership,
and bookstore, these three is main income. Before I forgot, I want
to tell you why it is we need it now. Vajrayana Foundation has no
problem, basic foundation is incredibly strong, powerful, very very
alive. But temporary circumstance is we have debts. We have debts.
I want to, everybody can take responsible, save that life, and if
debts keep going, then we won’t have this land. Then no place,
no teacher will come, no place for gathering. And plus I planted
incredible holy material, special aspect, in this land. Kyabje Dungse
Rinpoche, he came many times and this land blessed. He gave a teaching,
he gave empowerment. Everything’s done. This is a holy place.
You don’t need to go to pilgrimage, India and Nepal, past
Buddha did, and now this is blessed by Dungse Rinpoche and His Holiness
Dudjom Rinpoche, actually physically not came to this land, but
his mind and all his blessing is completely pouring into this land,
as a pilgrimage place. Then what we have here, support of a body,
support of a speech, support of a mind, these three.
You know support of body aspect, we have a statue. This statue
is we call “ni ngam ni yeshow,” you can put one this
statue is here, you can put other one whole this world, this will
equal to bannis(?) That kind of valuable things. Not material, its
wisdom. Liberation through seeing. You can do practice in front
of Guru Rinpoche statue, make a prayer, become true, you can make
a confession, pacifying your negative karma, and, you can dedicate
in front of a statue, multiplies, that kind of holy, because Kyabje
Dungse Rinpoche, his own hand, done with this sculpt by Kyabje Dungse
Rinpoche, and we have our sangha helpers, but main, then when he
finished he said, you know consecration, “rang li” in
Tibetan, he said, “you don’t need to do this statue.”
That means his wisdom, body, speech, mind, is completely consecrated
already, because done by his own hand. Where you can find? Any world
you can go, find any statues done by Dungse Rinpoche’s hand?
No place! Only we have.
And, support of a speech. All these texts, you can look at our
library, very very rich. You know I put all my money, my energy,
ordered in Tibet, how much is I can afford it, You know truckloads
came to the post office, they said come quickly, otherwise we don’t
have place in the post office room, completely filled up with the
texts. We have that kind of texts here, in support of speech. Not
only texts, texts using, make a teachings, we have a Shedra. Shedra
what educated, how to learn, and mind level, support of outwardly,
we have this year, completely built a beautiful, most holy object,
a stupa. Inside of the stupa, all our sangha put so much effort,
went 100,000 Dorje Drolod tsa tsa’s. And, outerly, proportion,
how to build up exact whatever texts said. And especially, I’m
so lucky to spend whole my life with His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche.
There’s a special what kind of proportion his favorite, we
did exactly like this. You know, there’s a mandala, statue,
texts, mantra. Very very valuable.
We got relics from Mindroling Trichen Rinpoche, Kyabje Chatral
Rinpoche, and all other lamas, and collection’s unbelievable.
That’s the support of a mind. That mind only got stupa you
know everybody practicing, that’s the support of a mind. And
longest we have a Drupta, 3-year retreat, and besides that all the
time, what I’m requesting to sangha. I’m never requesting
give me money, or do for me this and that, only I requesting do
practice. People do. People does. Its amazingly, I’m saying
I’m so lucky. I trust sangha, sangha trusts me. And we have
incredible special connection with the sangha due to that very success,
and practicing. And every day, daily practice, and monthly, practice,
and every year, we have a Drupchen, every year we have a new year
Vajrakilaya practice. And a retreat here, it’s full of blessings,
this land.
That’s why I’m worried, if I put this much to success,
if you don’t take care, that careless will lead, this dharma
center will disappear into the Dharmakaya. That’s not bad,
but we need badly, this earth. And please see that valuable things
and put, compare with the one way I’m asking membership, is
maybe too much money. But never too much money. You know why? Look,
you can compare – whole your precious life, you supporting
filling this little hole. And only one single lifetime, that’s
all. How much it cost, that? What is result you getting? And putting
this much money, you know, membership money, it’s just like
putting drop of water into the ocean, this Pema Osel Ling collection
is like ocean. Until this ocean has exhausted your drop’s
last with it, kind of merged with it. Then all lamas, sangha can
dedicate your material aspect into the wisdom immaterial, inexhaustible,
how much valuable is that. Think that way, compare with how much
it cost for the short life, one single lifetime, and you serving
dharma is forever. Last until you attain enlightenment, this virtue
lasts. After that, when you reach enlightenment, you not done, you
have a responsible, Mahayana Buddhism and Vajrayana Buddhism, and
you have a responsible whole sentient being to liberate. Until this
samsara become empty, that lasts. Compared with what valuable. Think
that way. Membership is not really incredible requesting. Not unreasonable.
Very reasonable. I want all of you can think that way.
Point #3
Then that third one is camp renting. Anyone has energy, time,
we have lots of things need to be helped. And first we need make
a little look better. People comes to the dharma, only thinking
dharma, then they don’t care, dharma practitioner. And especially,
people who came from Tibet, very fancy. There’s a toilet,
you can poop and pee inside the house, that’s amazing. Materially
whose spoiled, western people. Even though western people come to
the dharma, still it’s a workable, useful, better than cave.
But then camp rentals, not necessarily everybody dharma practitioner.
And you know all of them spoiled in American material phenomena.
Then, toilets, and cabins, sometimes go off these electricity, but
we have to make it, virtues, inconceivable serving sangha. You can
accumulate, you know my father told this word, I want to pass to
all of you . And for me it’s kind of shocking, amazing that
idea is. My father said, you have to use how much you need money
for this life, this paper money works. And you like to have some
money for the next life, this never take with you, and have generosity.
You can plant something that lasts forever. Think that way, then
you can plant some money tree. And fruit always comes. Then renting’s
support, what we need, little, make a better, comfortable, clean.
We have a dirt road, and mud. We can try to earn and pave. And these
toilets make nicer, less stink, and look nicer. Cabins make warmer,
you know heaters, and if electricity go out we have to prepare generators,
all of that. And plus some kind of furniture, don’t dump it
all, kind of go to the dump place, don’t dump it here, nice
ones. Then Vajrayana’s truck is broken, taking to the dump
again less cost more! Not much helpful. And that kind of help, support.
Point #4
And to do that, fourth one, how to find that kind of source. How
much you can, how much you can contact with the rich people. And
idea of grants. Anyone who has skill, you know we’re making
a road and repairing building, bathroom, probably is possible you
can look. So much money out there. All money goes out to what makes
bomb and gun, never had anyone has the chance to put it in the dharma
in order to accumulate the merit and wisdom. You can make a contact,
you can aware. Each one has a different knowledge. Put together
very rich. I want to look that one. Fourth one is about grants.
Point #5
And fifth one. You know all these ideas, when I’m sleeping,
and I’m not falling asleep lately, these are my mind treasures
comes out. Sometimes support dharma center is auction idea, you
know? Somebody can donate like a car, new Mercedes, helicopter,
whatever! And up there and down, how much is it. Make it each year
and have auction, can be sell tickets, there’s one idea. And
I want to plant everything in your mind tonight anyway. I saw in
the TV, one person said, he’s a schoolteacher, “I want
to teach all my kids all my knowledge to kids.” Then other
one comes, “Other half of day what you going to do?”
That’s why I want to share with you whole my knowledge tonight!
And that auction idea. Other day I’m talking with John,
all these conversations. Nancy Wangmo, she’s has a very, this
kind of particular, you know she’s a really great speaker
in the public, and she has so much idea, and she had experience
at the dharma center fundraiser. If you come to the auction, I want
you to contact with Nancy Wangmo, now she’s out Arizona, but
that’s not too far.
Point #6
And sixth one, I’m going to repeat this again and again,
you did already my personal, but again idea is that, I don’t
know you focusing for my personal, but my idea is for the dharma
center, always I think first, dharma center, myself is second. You
know like, everybody makes money to support your life. One day you
can work extra every month. One day extra work, whatever your skill
is. Then you can put that money in the like a piggy bank, whatever,
separate, then make an offering to dharma center.
Point #7
Number seven is, I’d love to have you wisdom, knowledge,
and idea. You know, ten people comes together, ten good wisdom comes
together, makes a really good deal. But same time I had a lots of
time and experience in dealing with a dharma center, they will give
you ideas, lots of but they won’t do it. But this case if
you come with idea, you can engage with it, how much you can do,
how much you need helper, take responsible, not only word, but by
helping out. That’s sometimes helpful, but sometimes not helpful,
plus complications. That kind of pay attention.
Point #8
And, number eighth one. You know, this dharma centre, keeps going,
generation to generation. You know after your death, what called
will – put in the dharma center. It’s a really good
idea, to support. Because that money will become, you can use in
the next life. You can make this life’s bank and next life’s
bank. You can put some money, have enough for the next life. That
kind of putting your own. And also you can recommend for others.
That kind of be long term will be helpful.
Point #9
And number ninth one. I’m telling all of you but not everybody,
but pay attention to this. And lot’s of why dharma center
has debts. Lots of people they say, I will pay later, retreat or
whatever, then they don’t pay. That’s the exactly taking
away a piece of wood from the pile. And temporarily half of a center,
and more than that. My concern is all of you, you know, the trust
in me, I’m kind of responsible, not only this life, next life
too. You can read Kunsang rame shalung, Words of my perfect teacher,
described there. There’s something you can, stealing, next
life, is a cause poor. And especially holy object. You know, somebody
dedicated putting money to the triple gem, you can take from that,
it’s a very very heavy karma. Other way you stealing, next
life you become poor, that’s all. But Patrul Rinpoche said
taking money from holy object, next life, how you can pay, is your
flesh. Each flesh. You have to pay back with the flesh. That’s
kind of shocking. But then I heard a story. They sell turtle meat.
Turtle, you know other animal you can kill brain or heart, something
got cut, then they die. Turtle never dies. You can cut, one person
comes turtle meat order, you can cut, they don’t need a refrigerator,
still alive, it moves, then stays. Until their body, they’re
finished, they don’t die they said. That must be, my interpretation,
that must be what Patrul Rinpoche talk about. You know you don’t
want to have that kind of heavy karma to create for the next life.
And please pay attention, temporarily helpful for the center, and
long term, next life, you have a whole flesh full with you, doesn’t
have to cut off.
And now is a good time to think, the dharma is, you do dharma
way, positive, incredible powerful. If you do negative towards dharma,
is worse than any other sin you cannot do. That kind of dangerous
things. And I don’t want you to have next life and bad suffering
by incomplete intention.
I will tell you one story. This kind of very sensitive for me,
not my style, cheating dharma center, and taking money from dharma
center, or any kind of holy object. One time I went Rigdzin Ling,
Chagdud Rinpoche wanted to do pujas. Then right outside the door,
there’s a table, person, and they can what you call register,
pay money there, then they will give you a piece of paper, then
goes in. I don’t want to name, one of our sangha. He pretend
he’s attendant of mine. He went in, with me. I saw that, what
he did. I really got bothered a lot. Then after that session is
finished we went outside. Then I asked, “did you do Ngondro?”
“Oh, oh yeah, Ngondro, I did a couple times,” “Good,
your Ngondro has a mandala offering, or no?” “Yeah,
I did it twice, 100,000 times.” “Why you didn’t
get any idea?” You know? Then I went directly to him, I really
shamed him, not in the public, but by person. “This is the
worst thing, what you cheating dharma. Dharma is stealing. What
kind of bad karma you are accumulating. You can pay only ten dollars.
Ten dollar, in America you can make money. Wash car. Easy to get
ten dollar. Pay dharma. Why you cheating? Not cheating for dharma
centre. Cheating for yourself.” I was really, seriously mad
at him. Because, that’s not my style. For example like this
dharma center, people give me lots of money, and we know each other,
they gave me more and more money, but I never took anything. Just,
I told you, I’m supported by Regina, then my everything is,
my knowledge, physical energy, position, everything used for the
dharma center. After I offered dharma center to Kyabje Dungse Rinpoche,
then I went one year retreat, just as I told you. After retreat,
finished, come back, I had $31,000 debt. I’m so happy! And
number one, I’m not become rich. You know using dharma is
how to make rich, that is so simple. And especially I started a
dharma center, I put everything after dharma center got offered,
I have debts that make me really satisfaction, happy. And all of
you, anyone has debts for this dharma center, follow after my footsteps.
Good example! That means I’m good practitioner. Hey! Have
to pay attention, like that. One person can buy at bookstore, and
pay retreat, all of that, taking away from dharma. I want to, not
all of you, but anyone now has debts, and in the future everyone
can be helpful with this kind of pay attention, aware, then you
won’t repeat.
Point #10
Number tenth one is when you spend money, spend money, buying
things, you always buying, you know present, Christmas present,
and birthday present. Buy dharma object from bookstore. Then give
it to people. That’s a benefit twice. One is your generosity.
Other one dharma object, other person using, is only dharma. That
present, never takes to the bar, never takes to the exchange with
the drug, and using for the dharma, both way of benefit; and third
one, benefit for the dharma center. Please, buy more things from
the bookstore. More is better!
Point #11
Eleventh one, you can keep in your mind, and also your friend,
and especially when you see some rich people you know, this is a
non-profit organization, tax deduction. That can be helpful instead
of, I’m not saying negatively, supporting government. Government
does lots of good things. But making bombs, guns, not that good
either. But that kind of your checks helps, and goes 100% to dharma.
Look for that kind of stuff, also helpful.
Point #12
Twelfth one, only tonight, a little too much, but when all of
you comes to retreat you can use this, pay attention. Anyone who
lives at Pema Osel Ling, be aware of, careful, electricity, water,
heater, and especially in the Drupta, wintertime, when you doing
the session, I’m not saying turn off the heater, but as soon
as you done session, turn off. And outside, every sangha, everyone
that lives here, it is really helpful. That kind of accumulate one
place, then we losing money and getting in the debts.
Point #13
And the thirteenth one, is it be helpful Chime and basically the
Vajrayana Foundation, we selling here, anyone who comes to the land
they can buy here, but some other places, you know some kind other
lama giving empowerment or teaching, and public gathering place,
bookstore can go, selling, put some energy, that makes a little
more money.
That’s all! All my knowledge is finished. Anyhow, all of
these, some my personal words are too direct. If that is the case,
sorry. Actually my intention is only positive. Therefore, you know
dharma is always there, but always we don’t continue, then
we lost mindfulness. This will help and remind you. And now, Lama
Sonam, he’s incredible, I’m so happy, my wish is completely
fulfilled. He’s a pure practitioner, knowledgeable, he’s
a savant, he has a capable, he takes responsibility. He is a representative
of Kyabje Dungse Rinpoche’s, and everybody can respect. And
this dharma center is not like a normal business company or factory
or whatever. We have the habit of in the west, that of democracy,
public individual, equal power idea. That’s not really, in
my experience, not work. I’ve hear other stories, Tony tells
me this, in Los Angeles, there’s a Kagyu center, Kalu’s
Rinpoche’s center. Then, Kalu Rinpoche comes once every year.
Then he came back next year, having some problems in the dharma
center. Then they told him, “We’re having problem.”
Then Kalu Rinpoche said, “Of course you will have problem.
Because you can listen everything I say, no problem. You don’t
listening to me, then there’s a problem!” I like that.
When I’m in the Spokane, our sangha member’s house,
they have two kids, twin sons. He has a sign, it said, “This
house has two rules. Rule number one, anything Daddy said is true.
Rule number two, if that’s not true go back to rule number
one!” This is similar. That’s not a joke. It’s
really true. And especially, supervision of who’s the leader,
and dharma, and especially lama. That person has knowledge, that
person has experience, that person has aim, goal, what exactly they
want to do. And follow with that, and they won’t lead you,
they won’t cheat you, always a positive, then result is best
way. You know, lamas are emanation of enlightenment, that’s
other dimension. And sentient being has no capacity, ability to
see that level. We can see only limited, we can see downstairs.
Then bringing upstairs, into the third floor, or ninth floor, bringing
down here, we try to fit in here. That not work. Each has a different
dimension, a capacity, ability, wisdom, goal approaching. Therefore,
trusting the dharma way is called the pure samaya. And worldly,
dharma center, always successful. Keep that kind of mind, and thank
you very very much, all of you coming together. And all of my knowledge
is shared tonight, all done. And anyone want to say, talk, please,
I’d like to hear it.
