Vajrakilaya Gutor and Losar Day Retreat

Tulku Jigmed Wangtrak Rinpoche will bestow the Namchak Putri Vajrakilaya empowerment on February 22 and will lead us in Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche’s Putri Rekphung Vajrakilaya Gutor retreat until Tibetan New Year (Losar).

Vajrakilaya is one of the main yidam practices in the Nyingma lineage and is the root of spiritual accomplishment (siddhi). Lama Tharchin Rinpoche said, “Dorje Zhonnu (Vajrakilaya) is the name of the ultimate nature of your mind – Dorje is indestructible nature and Zhonnu is youthful – it means our unchangeable nature is unborn. This lack of recognition of our Dorje Zhonnu leads to dualism. With a wisdom weapon (dagger) Vajrakilaya cuts through the solidity of hardened minds and afflictive emotions with the weapon of sharp, clear awareness luminous non-dual mind leaving no place for the dualistic conceptual mind.

"Gutor is the wrathful activity traditionally performed in the final days of the year to cleanse all negativities and undesirable circumstances and to pacify all illness, demonic influence, defilements and obstacles in order to start the New Year afresh. “Through this practice all positive circumstances increase like the waxing moon. Relative circumstances such as longevity, merit, glories, the wealth of the three realms, joy are increased. And on the path, meditation qualities, experience, wisdom and fruition of practice are accomplished."
