**Why are we asking for your help now?

Often at this time of year we approach our sangha with a request to support our fire safety and storm-related activities. After the severe rains and snow in January and March, our property suffered washout of two roads, erosion of paths and walkways in our cabin area, and damage to many trees. In addition to carrying out our ordinary upkeep, we have extraordinary costs to remove dangerous trees and hanging branches, and repair storm-damaged grounds both at Pema Osel Ling and at Drubdra. In addition, we need to be vigilant in preparing for potential wildfires by continuing to clear brush and flammable debris around buildings.

Another major fire safety expense is to restore our Naga Offering Pond. The pond was instrumental in helping firefighters put out the devastating wildfire of 2008, which burned a portion of our property. Since that time, the pond leaked more and more and after the most recent winter storms, no longer held water, eliminating its usefulness in fighting wildfires.

Due to prior pledges from residents and sangha members, we have been able to carry out the first phase of clearing and preparing the pond. We are asking for your support to complete the sealing and full restoration of the pond. We feel this is a critical, long-term investment in the safety of Pema Osel Ling and our Three-Year Retreat facility.

THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR  HEARTS!

DEDICATION OF MERIT

By this accumulation of merit, may I obtain all-seeing omniscience

and may all faults be defeated.

The whirling, turbulent waves of birth, aging, sickness

and death—from this ocean of samsara, may I liberate beings.
